This June, Singapore celebrated fatherhood in a meaningful way with Celebrating Fathers 2025, themed My Dad, My Anchor. Organised by the Centre for Fathering and supported by DADs for Life, MUMs for Life, Families for Life, and Mediacorp, the initiative reminded us that dads are the steady foundation for their families, holding us firm through life’s highs and lows.
A 25-Year Journey of Fatherhood
Since its launch on Father’s Day in 2000, the Centre for Fathering has reached over 68,000 dads, helping them play active and meaningful roles in their children’s lives. Celebrating Fathers began in 2016, and this year marks its tenth edition—a milestone that celebrates consistency, strength, and love in fatherhood.
Dad’s Day Out Brings Families Together
On Sunday, 15 June, Dad’s Day Out 2025 drew over 7,000 dads and their families for a day full of laughter and bonding. At the open-air event, families took part in activities ranging from a basketball challenge, foam blasters, bouncy castles, ball pits and storytelling sessions to even a hand-sanitising workshop. A live performance by ExtraOrdinary People added the finishing touch.
The first 2,000 families to complete the full set of activities were given a special goodie bag. The event also achieved a new Singapore Book of Records milestone by having 1,255 postcards written on-site, strengthening the message of heartfelt appreciation between fathers and children.
Building Legacies Through Meaningful Initiatives
Held alongside the National Family Festival (31 May to 29 June), Celebrating Fathers included several interactive installations that celebrated generational bonds and emotional connection:
-
A jigsaw wall installation featured blocks symbolising fathers from different generations working together—from Pioneer Generation dads building the base to young children placing the final blocks.
-
The popular coffee-mug installation first introduced in 2017 returned. Children personalised mugs for their dads, and a life-sized mug was displayed as a photo piece—a sweet reminder that heartfelt gifts matter just as much as store-bought ones.
Let Dad Be Your Anchor
Celebrating Fathers 2025 brought families together in gratitude, love and appreciation for dads who quietly anchor us through life’s storms. It’s a powerful reminder that fatherhood is not just about being present—it is about leading with strength, compassion and heart.
