Primary 1 registration woes

I am sure parents whose kids are entering Primary 1 next year could be quite pressured and stressed to get their child into a nearby primary school, and more so if the school is very popular. But is the current enrollment scheme being unfair to kids living just about 5 minutes away from school, and yet not having a chance to seek enrollment?

Increased primary school volunteer hours

Primary 1 registration woes

According to an article in the Shin Min Daily news, a couple was not able to get their child enrolled in a school that was just opposite their block. This was during the Phase 2c registration – which is the last phase of the exercise.

The couple, who reside in Jurong West were trying to get their child into West Grove Primary School. Shared Mdm Peng Hui Shan, 28:  “Our flat is just across the road from the school, and within a five-minute walking distance. We never expected that our daughter would not be able to get a place in the school.”

Do you, as a parent face such problems like the couple mentioned in the article, and if MOE should review this Primary 1 admission exercise program?
