As part of Singapore’s SG60 National Day celebrations, Gardens by the Bay will host the Southeast Asian debut of SPARK, an ethereal light installation by internationally acclaimed Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde.
Date: 31 July to 3 August 2025
Location: Supertree Grove Lawn, Gardens by the Bay
Admission: Free
This free outdoor experience offers families a rare chance to enjoy a tranquil and environmentally friendly art installation that reimagines how we come together to celebrate national milestones.
What Is SPARK?
SPARK features thousands of biodegradable light particles that float silently across the night sky, drifting and shimmering in response to wind currents. These light sparks resemble fireflies, birds in flight, or stars forming constellations—creating a soothing, dreamlike atmosphere ideal for visitors of all ages.
Unlike traditional fireworks or loud performances, SPARK offers a new, eco-conscious way to celebrate—one that is quiet, reflective, and aligned with sustainable values.
“SPARK is a place of wonder which triggers reflection and shows a new way of celebrating together.” – Daan Roosegaarde
Previously Shown in Global Cities
SPARK has toured cities such as Bilbao, London, and Melbourne, drawing praise for its innovative blend of nature, technology, and public art. The 2025 showcase at Gardens by the Bay marks the first time this installation will be seen in Southeast Asia.
Part of SG60 and Bilateral Friendship
Presented by Gardens by the Bay, IMBA Interactive, and H and B, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore, SPARK is part of the SG60 National Day festivities.
It also commemorates 60 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the Netherlands, highlighting the countries’ shared values in innovation, sustainability, and cultural exchange.
Why Families Should Visit
A Family-Friendly Experience Without Loud Sounds
SPARK is ideal for families with children, including toddlers and those sensitive to noise. The installation is silent, safe, and soothing—offering a moment of pause in the busy National Day period.
Children can enjoy watching the glowing sparks drift through the air, while parents appreciate the calming, contemplative mood under the iconic Supertrees.
