Clean the window ledge

Cleaning the window ledge, as perilous as it sounds, is also a very common one in Singapore.

And a maid even fell to her death because of it. According to a report, the domestic helper was last seen cleaning the master bedroom window before her employer's mother-in-law heard her shout 'grandma!'.

Employers should be responsible to ensure the safety of their own maids. Don't make them do things you wouldn't risk yourself doing.

Carry a National Serviceman's rucksack

At this age (18 years), you would think a grown boy would be able to carry his own weight. It's sad to see employers using their helpers to do such tasks.

According to reports, the National Serviceman who was in his army uniform, was seen texting away while his maid was plodded behind him, lifting a huge field rucksack.

Clean canal and tree leaves

Spotted by residents of the area, a domestic helper was made to clean a canal with a trowel that was 3 to 4 metres wide. Not only that, she was also cleaning tree leaves with a cloth and bucket of water at a nearby park.

According to reports, she was ordered (by her employer) to carry out such a task in order to prevent the breeding of mosquitos.

Polish the car for over 3 hours on a Sunday

Sundays are usually a day of rest for most of the domestic helpers in Singapore. But in this helper's case, she was made to polish her employer's Jaguar car for more than 3 hours.

A bystander who witnessed the act mentioned that the maid was in the midst of waxing the car when he left the house in the early afternoon.

To his surprise, she was still polishing the vehicle when he came back late in the afternoon.

Trim the branches of a tree

A domestic helper was seen trimming the branches of a tree outside her employer's house. Oh, and there was a sharp fence right below her. Now that's not very safe, is it?

According to an eyewitness report, the maid was using a ladder while sawing off a tree branch.
